Montessori Pedagogy and Therapy

Montessori Pedagogy

The Montesorry pedagogy represents a new approach for the understanding for the child’s training and education. In contrast to the “classic” pedagogic systems this of the Italian physician Maria Montesorry regards the characteristics of the child’s development with the age, its necessities in every particular stage and the way to teach the children with minimal effort and with a lot of joy.

Based on long years of observations and studies in the field of the children’s development Montesorry designs a system of materials, which create the base of this new pedagogic system. They give to the child the unique opportunity to feel his/her own personality, regarded by the adults and by the coevals. The children develop according to their inside plan as by the aid of the above mentioned materials gain the necessary practical experience, which makes them independent and detached.

They study exercises from the everyday life: how to poor, how to handle a spoon, how to iron, how to clean the table, floor, etc. These basic exercises set the base for improvement of the gross and fine motorics create the algorithm of simple logic operations.

After the follow materials for training the sensors, which trough a sense experience help to understand a number of abstract conceptions: colors, shapes, sizes, properties and qualities of the subjects.

Based on the experience gained already in the previous two fields the child starts learning to write and to read, as well as the mathematics.

Montessori Therapy

Due to its pictorial and plain way of presentation the Montesorry-pedagogy become very appropriate for treatment of children with problems in their development. With the aid of the already mentioned Montesorry-material and based on the basic guidelines of the Montesorry-pedagogy in the Hospital is carried out a completely new according to its nature and aims therapeutic form: the Montesorry-therapy. It is created in Germany in the 1960s and already 30 years proves its efficacy in different countries in the World.

By the Montesorry-therapy the damaged child feels secure and protected because it is situated in an environment, where are strictly defined rules, which are always kept as from the child, as from the adult. The children have to choose the materials to work with by themselves, to limit the duration of the exercise by themselves and to choose their partners.

Due to the fact that the Montesorry-materials are chosen adequately to the age child’s characteristics they appear to be very useful for the work with damaged children. The main principle of this therapy is “From catching to understanding” and the motto is “Help me to do it by myself”.

The Montesorry-therapy is applied individually or in groups.
